SMIB is a lifestyle brand, born from the energy of a tight-knit group of friends, most of whom grew up in the Bijlmer and were raised on Hip Hop. What started as a crew of homies who were all high school dropouts, evolved into a collective of creative, ambitious young men chasing their passions. Some wanted to rap, make beats or shoot photos, while others wanted to design clothes, throw parties, or even write books. We brought all those ambitions together and turned them into one shared universe — a world we’ve called SMIB ever since.

From the moment things started rolling, we began organizing events, our own showcases,
and not long after — our very own festival, in collaboration with The New Originals. That’s
how a community was born, guided at its core by the collective, which gradually evolved into
the brand that SMIB is today.
To us, SMIB is like family. In practice, it’s a creative powerhouse — a way for us to build our
own world, fueled by the DIY mindset that Hip Hop culture taught us.
But above all, SMIB is a movement — something that’s grown far beyond just us.

SMIB is een lifestyle brand, geboren uit de energie van een hechte groep jongens die veelal
zijn opgegroeid in de Bijlmer, en zijn opgevoed door Hiphop. Wat begon als een groepje
homies vol highschool drop-outs, groeide uit tot een collectief van creatieve ambitieuze
nammen die allen hun passies zijn gaan nastreven.
Nammen wilde rappen, beats maken, fotograferen, kleding ontwerpen, fissa’s organiseren
en boeken schrijven. Al deze ambities bundelde we samen, en maakte we onderdeel van één
beleveniswereld die we vanaf dat moment SMIB zijn gaan noemen.

Vanaf dit balletje begon te rollen organiseerde we events, onze eigen showcases en niet
lang daarna zelfs ons eigen festival in samenwerking met The New Originals. Zodoende
ontstond er een community, die in de basis werd aangestuurd vanuit het collectief, dat
geleidelijk uitgroeide tot het merk dat SMIB nu is.
SMIB is voor ons als een family, en in de praktijk een creatief powerhouse waarmee we onze
wereld zijn gaan bouwen vanuit de DIY-mindset die Hiphop culture ons heeft aangeleerd.
Maar bovenal is SMIB een movement, iets dat inmiddels veel groter is dan alleen onszelf.

SMIB consists of two parts that strengthen each other: the collective and the organization.
Both embody the lifestyle — each in their own way.

The organization offers services, sells products, organizes events, and supports and
promotes the collective in their creative expression.

The collective, in turn, represents the
brand to the outside world — through music, art, literature, and everything else we create
and do as individuals.

That’s how we keep the circle complete.

Everything we do, we do in the name of those four letters: SMIB.

SMIB bestaat uit twee onderdelen die elkaar versterken: het collectief en de organisatie.
Allebei dragen ze de lifestyle uit — ieder op hun eigen manier.

De organisatie levert diensten, verkoopt producten, organiseert events, en support en
promoot het collectief in hun creatieve uitingen. Het collectief vertegenwoordigt op zijn
beurt het merk naar buiten toe: via muziek, kunst, literatuur en alles wat we verder maken
en doen als individuen.
Zo houden we de cirkel rond, en doen we alles in naam van de vier letters: SMIB

At its core, SMIB is a way of life.
Everything we do — from music to clothing, from books to business — is a reflection of our
lifestyle. We’re Hip Hop babies from the hood, moving through life with a progressive self-
sufficient mindset.

Everything we know, we taught ourselves — autodidacts, learning by doing. Through trial
and error, we’ve built our world together, brick by brick.
The message we send out through our creations is simple:
We want to inspire others to get the most out of life.
You’ve got one life to live — so live it to the fullest, and go after what you truly want.

In de kern is SMIB a way of life. Alles wat we doen, van de muziek tot kleding, van boeken
tot business, is een reflectie van onze lifestyle. We zijn Hiphop babies uit de hood die
progressief en zelfvoorzienend in die libi staan.

Alles wat we kunnen hebben we onszelf aangeleerd, autodidactisch, door gewoon te doen.
Door vallen en opstaan komen we vooruit, en zijn we gaan bouwen aan onze shit met elkaar.
Het signaal dat we de wereld in sturen met onze creaties is dat wij anderen willen inspireren
om ook het meeste uit hun libi te halen. Je hebt een libi om te leiden, dus doe dat to the
fullest, en ga voor wat je wenst.
